TELEMETRIX 720 HDR (T720HDR)

OVERVIEW
The Telemetrix® 720 HDR (T720HDR) brings the multimission benefits of digital receiver technology to high data rate requirements. The T720HDR provides industry leading bit error rate performance, as well as user-selectable support for a variety of waveforms and data rates. The T720HDR supports carrier tracking, demodulation, bit synchronization, and digital processing of 720 MHz IF signals at data rates adjustable up to 470 Mbps. An optional integrated test modulator provides the ability to generate the same waveforms that are processed by the unit under normal operations. The digital signal processing implementation provides flexibility to support different demodulation and processing schemes, and, unlike legacy analog implementations, requires no calibration. The soft-programmable implementation allows support for new requirements without building new hardware.

APPLICATION
The T720HDR supports downlink processing of BPSK, QPSK, SQPSK, and optional UQPSK and 8PSK signals at rates from 1 Mbps to 470 Mbps. The demodulation processing is supplemented by bit synchronization (with optional Viterbi error correction), PCM code conversion, and CCSDS frame processing. For m-ary modulation formats, bit reinterleaving is also available. Output from the unit is available as differential ECL data and clock or as frames available over an optional 1000BASE-T Ethernet. In addition, the demodulator optionally provides an Adaptive Baseband Equalizer (ABBE). The ABBE corrects for both linear and non-linear distortions without requiring additional bandwidth. Performance gains in the presense of distortions can be upwards of 2 dB. It is completely automated and fully integrated into the standard software package.

The T720HDR provides a number of sophisticated test and simulation capabilities based upon the digital implementation. Spectral and I/Q vector displays are available to aid with signal characterization and troubleshooting. A user-programmable digital matched filter is available to optimize performance to transceiver characteristics. The test modulator capability provides composite signal generation and output at 720 MHz from an internal simulator or external data and clock signals. A calibrated noise source and bit error rate test capability is also available.

The unit implements a socket-based software interface, allowing control and status, as well as display of spectral-vector data over Ethernet. Data delivery is also available over Ethernet. The unit has been closely integrated with the RT Logic T500GT for high-rate CCSDS processing, RAID data archival, and network data distribution.
