PORTABLE UNIVERSAL GROUND PROCESSING UNIT (PUGPU)

OVERVIEW
The RT Logic Portable Universal Ground Processing Unit (PUGPU) is an RF-To-Data solution well suited for ground stations and satellite test consoles. It integrates telemetry, commanding, and ranging functions with multichannel RF up/downconversion, as well as bit level data transfer over a variety of protocols.

APPLICATION
The PUGPU is ideal for any application that requires a small footprint, mobility, or rapid reconfiguration of signal processing capability. The limited set of equipment required not only enables a small system, it makes a PUGPU-based system a cost-effective solution by reducing both the spares required and maintenance costs.

The PUGPU is built with a collection of commercially-available hardware and software, at the core of which are the RT Logic T70/70XL and FCS products. The PUGPU also includes a workstation, a rack-mount display (with Keyboard, Video, Mouse (KVM)), a power distribution unit, an Ethernet switch, and RF and IF patch panels. The entire suite of PUGPU hardware fits in a self-contained portable rack enclosure or in a 14U rack space.

The PUGPU can be configured to support RF frequencies in the C-, X-, Ku-, Ka- and L/S-bands. The PUGPU IF Receiver function supports PM, BPSK, QPSK, SQPSK, AQPSK, UAQPSK, FM, and FM/FM demodulation, as well as subcarrier demodulation (BPSK/QPSK), bit synchronization, decoding (Viterbi/Reed-Solomon), CCSDS processing, and frame synchronization. Optional additional functionality includes FSK signal discrimination, PCM data simulation, data archiving/playback, and digital spectrum analysis.

The PUGPU generates the appropriate command bits, and performs command modulation (SGLS, USB, Tone) to baseband or 70 MHz. Range signal generation (PRN, multitone) and processing of the returned ranging signal is supported for SGLS, STDN-USB, and multitone ranging schemes.

The PUGPU accepts data inputs (commanding) and outputs (telemetry, command echo) via network packets, discrete ternary, discrete dibit/binary, UTDF, LEO-T, EXU, or SLE interfaces and enables full remote Monitoring and Control (M&C) via Ethernet.
